Hi All

I learned on this forum that a handheld IR thermometer will not yield accurate results when aimed at copper pipe. Many recommended using black electrical tape and pointing the laser on the tape.

What are your preferred methods for taking temp reading on copper pipes that your average homeowner can perform with reasonable accuracy?

Thank you

George

electrical tape works fine if it is at least a 2" section that is wrapped. in fact, any non-metallic non-reflective opaque surface will work. paint, tape, dirt, poo, etc...

Thanks guys. i have no real need to monitor this stuff other than my own neurotic brain that feels it needs to. Until i satisfy a desire for information, etc, it haunts me. LOL!!
