I think that, since Andy Schoen isn't with Sporlan anymore, yes, it's gone.

I really liked the Cold War
Hope it isn't gone but understand if it is.
Also to whom it may concern I know there is a list of past articles but I wouldn't mind getting a rerun if nothing new is going on.

    ColdWar Past Issues

It may be a good idea to save copies of all of these PDF's...just in case Parker takes down the links.

Are they in the EF yet Ice?
Might be a good safe haven.

Their links aren't currently posted in the EF, but we can always add them to the Sporlan section...which is a good idea. Thanks

We can't post the PDF files directly (without written permission) due to Copyright issues, but if Sporlan deletes them from their site, I have made copies.

For the record, most of the ColdWar issues were written by Garth Dennison, who also worked for Sporlan...and for DuPont/ Canada as well.

If you have read the DuPont Refrigerant Piping Design Handbook, then you will know that he wrote that, too.

When DuPont revised their website they dropped the link to the Handbook. Fortunately, I kept a PDF copy and we posted it in the EF at the location linked to above.

Shortly thereafter, Mr. Dennison send us an email thanking us for posting it because he had lost his only personal copy and DuPont no longer had it available.

Such is the value of saving stuff.

Sorry for giving credit where it wasn't due.

I haven't read all of the ColdWar issues, but those that I have read were written my Mr. Schoen.

    I AssUMed. Sorry.

I agree with saving stuff. Between what I have on Hard Drive and what I keep on thumb drive and external drive, I am slowly building a respectable collection.

I also have a good paper library that I am trying to phase out as I replace it with E-literature.

Garth will retire at the end of this month from Sporlan Division of Parker Hannifin Canada.

Wes Taylor of Carlyle and Chuck Otto of Johnson Controls will also retire the end of this month.

A huge amount of talent is about to leave our industry.

    Thanks for that news Andy.

Guys like that are the Old Guard of our business. They live and breath it. I sincerely doubt the "New Guard" will ever have the same devotion.

But please let them know there are lots of folks right here on HVAC-Talk who would absolutely love to have them hang out here and share some of their wisdom with us.

I had the honor to seat in front of Garth Dennison and listened to his rambles a few times, in my opinion he is one of the kind, an engineer that can communicate all the mumble jumble in layman's terms.
Andy I hope you keep on writing for the RSES journal and maybe giving a lecture here and there for us members, by the way how come are you only a CM? a guy with your knowledge should be a CMS.

I’m still at least 10 years away from retiring

I did pass the CM on my first try without any preparation. Full disclosure moment: I did take the air conditioning and refrigeration exams a number of years ago and managed scores in the 70s for each. I was planning on passing both without any kind of preparation. Not to be. I’ll have to retake sometime and perhaps study up a bit.

Here's an original thought for a new tech sheet: COLD WIRRS (whether its reciprocating, rotary, or scroll)
