    Replace linesat or reuse it?

My existing line set is 26 yrs old. It runs about 55 ft under my slab foundation. I am replacing this unit and one firm quoting says reuse the existing line set but another quotes replacing the line set with one running through the attic. Is it six of one, half dozen of the other, or is one method preferred?

Look at it this way - are you willing to take the risk of losing all the refrigerant and potentially contaminating the new equipment and THEN replacing the line set? The contractor should not have to assume the risk.
