    The one in the photo looks like "ecobee's" version of the C- wire adapter.

    I went to a house where the customer had installed an Ecobee with the add-a-wire kit. It was so messed up I didn't try to decipher what he had done. I took the kit off and made use of the 5th wire that was in the original #18-5 wire. Problem solved.
