    Hello All,

Can anyone confirm me the lifetime of a chiller 120kW, Carrier, Model: 30RB 039-160 which was commissioned 12 years back and which is currently being operated 24/24H 7/7 days?

    regards,

    KC

    Too many variables to answer.
    Operating conditions
    Start / stops
    % of load
    Maintenace logs

all play into expected and actual life

Thanks for the reply. What is the average life time of such chiller model based on the operating conditions 24/24H 7/7 days? T(Supply)=7 deg c and T(return)=12 deg c.

    Regards,

    Kevin

Air cooled product’s life cycle can vary greatly depending on the environment, coastal, chemical, dust/dirt, etc. 15-25 years is typical depending on service, environment, & application.

May we ask what your concerns are with this chiller, if any?

Like it was mentioned, if you have maintenance logs for the unit detailing everything that's ever been done to in in 12 years and they show it's been well cared for you're in luck. If you ask around and everyone gives you the deer in the headlights looks and say something like "Can't remember any ever working on it" I'd suggest you get someone qualified in to go through it from top to bottom and they "might" be able to give you an educated guess on how much life they feel is still in it.

If it’s a Trane then plan on 15 years. Or at least that is what local Trane told my dad and he needed a 125k renewal. He called the York Dist out of cinci and they said they expect theirs to last 25+ years. So dad told Trane yeah your right but I’m buying a York since they say theirs last 25 years and you say Trane only lasts 15 years.

they changed their tune fast then lol

Only fair assessment is to look at insurance companies statistics. In believe last time i checked it was ~20 years.

    Hello,

I've requested the maintenance logs or a summary of same from the Client. We are trying to see the option of implementing a solarcool system on the chiller.

    Regards,

    KC
