    York YVAA0345 condenser fans

Hey fellas , Working on a YVAA and notice that Cir B was tripping on HPCO. I found all ( 9 ) 30 amp fuses blown . We replaced all 9 bus fuses and I was thinking good to go. Well the ABB drive for the condenser fans never came to life , not getting the voltage to the ABB drive to control the fans.

I know that the drive will not power until the compressor sends the signal .

I am returning to the site tomorrow for more investigation, the call came in at 2pm .

Not sure what I should really be looking at , the trigger board , diode module , IGBT or the VSD logic board .

    Your thoughts ?

    Thanks

I would suggest to look at fan contactors and fan motor.
If I remember right there is a contactor before the vfd.

Trigger board, logic board and IGBT is for the compressor only

I saw the contactors, I will double check them today, it seems that the contactors are not pulling in - what calls for the contactors to pull in ? I feel that what calls for the contactors is the issue.

the chiller microboard calls for the contactors to pull in and feed the drive. power issues can cause the fuses to fail but so can bad wiring and a bad drive. take your time and investigate properly.

Have you tried going into service mode and powering the drive from there?

No - not yet . Use the service mode call for fan contactors and then send it a speed signal.
Check all fan motors and the wiring cables going out thru the chiller housing.
If the drive has failed there are plugs in the drive enclosure to by- pass the drive until it can be replaced.

After looking at circuit 1 condenser fan drive set up and following the wiring up to the control cabinet where the contractors are I discovered that I made the mistake of checking for voltage at the fuses in the ABB drive cabinet rather than the incoming power to the drive itself.
I have 480 to the drive and nothing powers up. After looking closer I seen where there had been an electrical failure on the back side of the board.

I never went into service mode and sent a speed signal to the fans.
I will have to keep that in mind for the future.
