I doubt that RTU is going to bend a 10-12" I beam.

A picture of the inside looking up might reveal more insight.
I never seen anything like this. The engineer should be shot.
How ever did the original install should be shot look how close the supply or return in to that wall. Even if you could set a curb where that duct comes up threw the roof there'd be one side impossible to get to.
