    Carrier

No pics. A journeyman calls me today and asks me to verify the 4 compressors Carrier sent him will work in the unit he has because something didn't look right. He called Carrier first and the sales guy told him they are the correct compressors. Then he called me. Not sure of the tonnage but I'm guessing 75-100 tons. It has 5 Digital Scrolls 4 of which are grounded. I asked why he didn't buy the compressors from me and he blamed it on the shop salesman. He waited 6 weeks for these compressors and they are incorrect. They've also been sitting on the roof for 4 weeks waiting to get installed. So he's now 10 weeks in. Original compressors are 183,000 btu's each. Carrier sent him 4 compressors that were 136,000 btu's each. Shorted him 16 tons of cooling. I'm quoting him compressors now. Thanks Carrier!

Don’t feel bad… we have the same problem as it’s the in house procurement that actually thinks they got a better deal by trusting the mfg it’s correct but the “new”part numbers are not even close to the operational specs of the old…

Problem is the mfg hired inexperienced personnel who rather watch their cell phones instead

I don't feel bad. I'm gonna guess that's between $15K-20K in compressors he's going to buy from me because the shop salesman "got the better deal".

He sent me the pics of the old and new compressor tags. Any idiot could have seen the difference in the #'s and they weren't even close. I crossed it over to the most recent Copeland model and the the prefix numbers on the correct cross are identical. The only thing different is the 3 letters after the prefix and the last 3 #'s on the end. I can have the correct compressors for him tomorrow...the ones he waited 6 weeks for. In my due diligence, I emailed the Carrier engineer I work with to see if anything has changed or if these compressors have something special about them. The RTU is custom built. Still waiting to hear back.

Don't know and my Carrier guy didn't quote skids. Unit has 5 total pumps, 4 are dead. I can get the 950 today and the 855's Carrier has in stock at the factory. Going to be a $20k screw up if His Carrier rep won't take back the wrong compressors. I didn't ask but, if they've been sitting on the roof for 4 weeks uncovered, all the packaging will be shot.
