    Fieldpiece Clamps

Probably haven't used these 10 times, look at them, they're not even dirty yet.

    Time to go wireless.

I'm tired of these mediocre "semi flammable" refrigerants. If we're going to do it let's do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

Maybe so, but going wireless won't fix this clamp I just had to replace from amazon for $75.00, this would be called the principle of this issue.

    Have you called fieldpiece?
They generally have excellent customer service.

Thank you for a logical response. I understand we all would like to have the latest and greatest, but my Fieldpiece digital gauges are in great shape, because I take care of all my tools, my vacuum pump is probably 10 years old and looks like new, and yes I use it. I'm 70, and adding more debt to my life at this point is probably not the best idea. Every tool I have still works great, and I still sometimes use my conventional gauges along with my Fieldpiece temp meter. Some of us in this business treat our tools like the latest and greatest iPhones. I still use an 6s, why? because it does everything I need a phone to do, just like my tools, they do everything I need my tools to do. Every meter or set of digitals and my monometer are all Fieldpiece, in my opinion, they work great for me. I understand things break, even the best of the best tools break, but I was pretty upset at the time this broke, because I have to swap back and forth the other good clamp to check SC and SH.

Unfortunately those clamps aren't very tough so at least for me the replacement wouldn't last very long.

I understand this, it’s probably why mine broke, but now I have one I bought on Amazon, a backup one would be nice.

Yeah they do look weak. The wireless clamps are really tough though! I love my wireless set!

Me too I dropped them probably stepped on them and hit them with the water hose and they just keep working flawlessly.

Well, it would not hurt my feelings at all, if you big buck guys setup up a GoFundMe page for the old dude here, for a new Fieldpiece Job Like Probe Kit. Heck, I'm not greedy, I would even settle for the SM480's.

Mr. Bill is the one you bought Blue?
There were a run of bad Blue clamps a while back cracked just like yours. I'm surprised one of those springs hasn't hurt anyone badly yet. You may have bought new old stock if it's Blue...
The Yellow wired clamps replaced the Blue.
I agree it's a pita but I'd call them if I were you.

The spring pretty much sprung out onto the ground, but when the clamp broke, it was like an explosion, little blue plastic pieces went everywhere, it scared the crap out of me.

Now that I think about it I think we got fed up with breaking clamps and didn't realize that the blue ones were defective. We ended up replacing it with a case of cheap Chinese ones that broke constantly but we just grab another one because they were like five bucks a piece or something it was really annoying but it's what the boss provided. Now that I think about it we never did have to replace the yellow one.

Sorry, I didn’t answer your question, no the one I bought on Amazon was yellow, it feels like it’s a lot stronger. Sad thing is, that was my high side clamp, my low side is blue, and all I was trying to do is clamp it on a 3/8 liquid line, and the dang thing broke. :-(

Years ago when they had the blue clamps... I have seen them just crack sitting on the seat of the van. The yellow ones are decent... last decently.

I bet fieldpiece might help you out if you contacted them.

I found this "old" thread from 2014 where they were sending out some new clamps, I don't know after 6 years if they're still doing this. I thought we used to have a Fieldpiece rep. here at one time.

I just sent the pics to fpmarketing@fieldpiece.com I'm not sure if this is the correct address, but maybe they can get it to someone that can help me out.
