    Also gonna be a sh!t load of trapped condensate in that reduced elbow. Amazing the retardation that is out there in our industry.

    Rusting out that metal won't take long either, I work in R&D, testing gas furnaces, one time I left some condensate from a 90+ furnace in a number 10 galvanized can overnight. The next morning the galvanized coating was discolored with a red tint. On the PH scale the condensate is about a 2, the same as lemon juice.
    And with the pressure drop from 2" to 4"? the velocity will drop and the inner surface will be wet all of the time. Warm,wet, and acidic what a lovely combination.
    I wonder why they thought they needed the silver tape?
