    Downsizing a Freezer

    So this customer has a 18x6 Freezer , and a 9x6 Cooler

He wants me to move the Freezer Fan Coil over to the Cooler ... so the 9x6 will suddenly become the Freezer

Then buy a whole new system for the 18x6 which will now be a Cooler

Will the Oversized Freezer set-up have any ill effects ? ?

Only thing I can think of is short run times.

You'll have shorter run times like WT70 said. You also need to make sure the existing cooler has an insulated floor, should have at least 4" walls (preferably 5), heated vent, door and frame.

Can it be done YES. Keep a wide differential on the t-stat to prevent short cycling.

    Should it be done, NO.

Change the gas from R-404A to R-134A and get new equipment for the 9 X 6 freezer.

    I hope 2 separate boxes.

Someone's going to be surprised trying to release those cam locks.

yeah you walk through the 9x6 cooler to access the freezer door

He also wants the door moved to the Side .... so he wont have to walk through cooler ... so each will be accessible on their own

    Its gonna suck big balls

I don't see that being possible. The frames, floor and ceiling panels are designed for specific locations so the cam locks line up.

Never had luck releasing those locks after a few years. Condensation rusts them in place.

Yeah you might want to check a few cam locks before quoting the job.
    Those condensing units look newer.
Can I have the one he's getting rid of ?

What you need to be concerned with is the cooler box becoming low temp. Does it have an insulated floor? Is the door heated?

If no to either, you're asking for trouble.

Please update your email address in your profile. I had to remove the old one because it was bouncing.

A new box might be cheaper and quicker in the long run. Too many things going on that could go really bad.

I would not do it....for many reasons..One would be a non insulated floor and a door heater.... what he customer is asking you to do....will not work in my opinion
