    HP80

Customer has 4 systems that were converted in 1996 to HP80. Not much HP80 left here in our Market. They think I can retrofit them again. What do you guys think?

Well, HP80 was a R502 replacement. R404A is also a R502 replacement, so there you go. If you do this conversion you're also supposed to replace the oil with POE, unless the compressor happens to be lower than the evaporators, then I personally wouldn't worry about it.

Here's a little tip... If you're too lazy to change out the oil, I've heard roomers that a few squirts of Supco88 can make you feel a little bit better about leaving it.

Even 404a could be only a short term solution.

HP80 is still available but IMO it's not economically viable. While 404a is on the chopping block, it's a proven refrigerant.
