I am in search for someone to Install 2 Zone Ductless Mini - Splits.
The 1st guy that Came by sells Mitsubishi Mr. Slims but since I feel his price is Kindaaa high
I have a few others that are coming over with prices on Fujitsu and Daikin 2 zone units in the next 2 weeks.
Today a guy pulls up with a large decal on his truck that says Fujitsu but tells me Fujitsu are hard to get lately with all the backups at ports.
But he says he can get me a Samsung and will email me a price on them tomorrow.
Im not sure how good are Samsungs are buttt nice to get another price and see how they compare to other brands....JT

Just got a Price by Email from Contractor that sells the Samsungs.
Seems that the Samsungs are more then 1/2 the prices of the Mitsubishis.
The Old Man that came over looked like he's a small time business type of a guy and Not a large dealer.
Butttt I still wanna get a few more prices on the Fujitsu and Daikin, will not mind paying tads more but the Samsung Price
is blowing my mind and leaning towards them if everything else is much higher in price...lol.............JT

Samsung is not made in China. They are made in Korea.
They are fine, but the install will determine how well they run.
The FJM did have an issue with overshooting temperature in satisfied zones due to EEV minimum position. Not sure if they’ve fixed that.

Many mini splits, even ones from well regarded Japanese companies, are made in China. That in itself is not a reason to knock the product.

Samsung is a Korean company, I do not know where the actual units are manufactured. Nor do I know whether they are good quality. All I can say is that they don't have anywhere near the market share in my area that the big Japanese names do, so I imagine finding contractors who are familiar with them, distributors who will support them, and parts when you need them in a pinch, will all be more difficult. At the end of the day, there's a reason why Samsung is so much cheaper. They simply haven't built up the brand equity and trust among contractors/consumers to charge a premium price for their product. Without that brand equity, they need some other way to get people to buy their unit.

I agree but think these are made in CHINA?
Myself I will see what the price of the Fujitsu and Daikin will be in a week or two.
If they are much higher in price then I will go with the Samsung.
Funny at Homedepot and Lowes many of the brands I never heard of and cost more then Samsung.
Its not that I wanna be cheap butttt just don't want to throw my money aways if I don't need too....Thanks for yea inputs......JT

I just checked the Fujitsu mini split in my house - made in China. Most residential Mitsubishi is made in Thailand. Not sure where Daikin is made, but I can tell you in general that everyone, even the highly regarded Japanese manufacturers are doing their manufacturing in low cost countries for their commodity residential mini splits. What countries of origin are acceptable to you?

Well...... I've been doing hvac for 20 years and I've seen a dramatic shift happen during my career. My grandfather used to tell me that being made in the USA stood for something. However this hasn't been true for at least a decade when it comes to hvac. Frankly the equipment coming out of Japan and china is considerable better in just about every way compared to USA equipment and it generally costs less too. I wish it wasn't true but in all honesty equipment made in the us is thin, poorly designed, loud, and the wiring looks like a plate of spaghetti. My Chinese made equipment is heavy duty, quiet, and thoughtfully designed. Hopefully this will change soon but until it does I'm not gonna lie and claim stuff made in the USA is the best. That hasnt been true for years :(

I haven't dealt with getting parts for other brand Mini splits but I have replaced parts including a front cover and a couple of different air guide vanes on 5 plus year old Fujitsu units and they were dirt cheap. That alone will keep me with Fujitsu unless it changes.

On the Samsungs the Upstairs is 15000 BTU
and the Down stairs is 9000 BTU
Compressor outside is 18,000 BTU.
The Inside total will be 24,000BTU and the Compressor outside will be 18,000 BTU....
Do you folks think I should have a Larger Outdoor compressor like 23 or 24,000 BTU so everything matches up in numbers instead of putting a heavy load on the outdoor compressor?........JT

My Daikins are made in Thailand.
Just had them installed the 1st week of Jan 2022.
They were made in Aug of 2021 and with the chain supply being slowed with all the ships waiting off shore.
I think they did well at getting them to local dealers.......JT
