    Mini Splits and required voltage

I have an apartment complex that runs an ageing Geothermal heating and cooling system, I want to shut this system down and install mini split units in each apartment. The current systems heat pumps all run on 277 volts, there is 480 volts at the panel. The current transformer I have is at capacity and I can't install mini splits that run on 240. (duh) Is there a mini split unit I can get here in the states that runs on 480 volts?

Not that I'm aware of. You can do a complex system that could work(big $$$$$$) but the FCU's still run on 240V.

Your cheapest option is probably going to be replace the geo.

Otherwise your looking at a VRF system.

you need a transformer. Maybe some units have a separate power supply inside not tied to the motherboard but I would not bet on it. Will cost you more and you have no warranty.

    Why No Warranty?

I don't have anything to add, but are you saying each apartment has a 480V breaker box in their apartment? If so, does each apartment also have a transformer feeding 230/120V to another breaker panel? I don't work in many apartments, but this seems a little unusual to me. Please clarify, just for my own curiosity. Thanks.

Seeing how Heat is required Im ASSUMING separate supplies for the HVAC then dropped down to lighting and others.
Now it could be metered with the A/C or just the lower voltage if metered at all?

Unless it's bad broke it's almost always cheaper to fix than replace.
An apartment would probably require 2 or maybe 3 air sections depending on layout, wall mount or cassettes. Can't talk $$ here. Then there's the electric service, piping add up.
In it's day did the geothermal perform OK? How broke is it?
