    TRY RUE COOLER ISSUE

I have a customer with a GDM-35SL- RF TRUE COOLER It just shuts off and gets hot they unplug it and plug it back in and it comes back on this particular cooler has a defrost timer in which Im leaning toward as the problem . I cant ever remember a thermostat doing this , has anyone seen this issue with True coolers

Why does it have a defrost clock? Because some dumb tech.
Replaced the CCI t-stat with an air sensing
    or
Systems short of refrigerant and freezes over.
    or
    Both.

    Are you measuring coil temperature?
Whats the SH at the compressor?

What defrost clock are you talking about?

The one at the condensing unit just reverses the condenser fan motor.

GDM coolers dont use clocks at all. They use either a coil sensing mechanical control or an electronic control with coil and air probes.

If it truly has a defrost clock then someone's dicked with it and doesnt know what theyre doing

Not to disagree with others, but we have several medium temp cases with factory defrost timers, especially air curtain grab and go coolers, but even some larger glass door merchandisers. They are typically time only and should be set for 4, 15 min defrosts per day. They put them on because with enough door openings, the off cycle defrost won't keep up. I would definitely check to see if it's sticking.

He's got a 2 glass door cooler. Totally different then a open case.
Yes open case coolers typically have a clock.

The next time it shuts off ...do a wire wiggle test

We have several glass door merchandisers with factory defrost time clocks in our facility, just saying.

If we're talking electronic controls then yes most of those have thermistors.
The OP said "defrost timer" and I consider that a mechanical clock.
Although those words are left to interpretation.

Yes, mostly Structural Concepts crap, pretty much all their medium temp units have either a defrost cycle built into the Carell controller or a Grasslin mechanical clock. A few Delfields with electronic controls with defrost built in. Not 100% sure if I've seen a True. Seen a few of them added, though, so it might be a modified unit.

Few need for a defrost clock on a closed door medium temp unit.
