Might be selling my Fluke 87V.

I bought a Fluke 87V and after a week I realized it’s too big for everyday use. So I bought a 116 and kept the 87V for a backup. Well so far I’ve never needed it. And my clamp
meter would be a backup if needed. If anyone is interested make me a reasonable offer. It’s pretty much in new condition. Been in a case WITHOUT the batteries in it.

I really like my 87V. I also decided it wasn’t a practical meter to carry around but I’d have a hard time getting rid of it. I like using it in my “lab” lol

I really like mine as well. Actually have 2 as I just picked another up last week in a pawn shop that still looks brand spanking new with a whole mess of different kinds of leads and thermocouples for 200.
I agree it’s not too practical for everyday use being it’s so big, it is nice to have for certain times. I’m wanting to order the i200 amp clamp for it, I figure I would prolly use it move if I had one for it.

Man what a great deal! I’d have a hard time passing that up even if I had 5 of them

Other than a little better accuracy, what does the 87 do that you can’t do with the 116 for the HVAC field?

Rarely ever work on units with VFD. But if I do I think my SC480 has Hz function

The amperage is one but there’s also a few other things that at times I’ve found useful like the 87 has an averaging feature wich doesn’t seem like any big deal but I’ve left it hooked up to a condenser fan motor that I suspected of stopping after a while running and went did other things for a bit and and came back and found the average amps were too high and confirmed my thoughts.
There’s also a few other things it can do but overall the 116 is like previously mentioned more practical for everyday use over the 87 for the majority of things. It’s just very nice to have several different meters for different things and just to compare readings if you find yourself questioning something.

Does min/max feature work like your describing? My clamp has min/max that I can leave on a motor and it will show the maximum amps it pulled while I was doing something else.
I also have the SC480 with the job link
App and I think it will log amperage over a period of time.

No the min/max is different than averaging.
I have the sc480 as well and haven’t tried using it with the JL app yet.
