New residence for you, but older unit? See if you can find the install guide to that outdoor unit, thinking it does not meet specifications as far as placement of unit from walls, other nearby units etc. What is that black like material so close to the front of the unit? What the reason for those planks on top of the unit? Maybe it’s pulsating because your not getting good unobstructed air flow across the coil and/or your coil is dirty?

If you have a history of that unit, how was it working last year or the year before?

Feel the airflow coming out. Does the feel of the air pulse in time with the sound pulse?

I’d look up the brand but never heard of it, let alone the model number. SEAS AIR? Is that the brand or did a HVAC company place that there? IMO being only five years old there should be a install guide on the proper placement of outdoor unit for starters.

Seems at face value there is a lot of air restrictions, the plant, patio planks, barbecue grill, another unit or whatever that is to the left of that your unit, also looks like it’s almost mounted next to wall. Those side discharge units can be mounted much closer to a wall than a conventional system, but still need a certain minimum distance.

How does the liquid line feel, hot to the touch?

Try spraying a steady mist of water on the whole coil ( if you can get to it ) from the rear while it’s pulsating/oscillation and feeling the liquid line before and while spraying coil to see if pulsating/oscillation stops and the liquid line temperature changes….

Check coil on both sides for cleanliness. May need an inspection mirror to see the complete coil from the wall side.

What is that stain on your decking by the corner of your unit?

It probably will return, if not you knocked enough stuff off the coil, your just lowering the refrigerant head pressure with the water. To much obstructions for starters. The liquid line is suppose to be warm, not necessarily hot.

Ok I moved the bbq .
What are these units called that are mounted like this and how far usually should they be from the wall ?
If it comes back I ll try spraying the rear coil with some water/mist. If noise goes away then what's the issue ?

What's the best way to clean this unit There's no access to a hose.

It was mentioned in post #5 what that type of unit is called. A side discharge unit. Each manufacturers may require a slightly different distance from a wall. Reason for asking to research the install guide initially.

As a general guideline from distance from a wall.

    Air conditioner side discharge
With a side discharge horizontal air conditioner, you can easily place the condenser unit a “mere six inches from the side of your house” . ... You might even consider a horizontal discharge air conditioner if you have nicely landscaped flower beds and don't want a large AC unit breaking up the scenery

I personally would remove planks on top, and move the bush plant away from the side, keep BBK away, and check coil for dirt accumulation. Clean as needed, depending on which side is the air intake.

You never mentioned how the system worked last year or the year before or what the residue stain on the deck by the corner of the A/C is from. Are you the original owner? If not chances you’re manufacturers compressor and parts warranty is over at 5 years. So if you want your system to last, may want to call for a basic cleaning and see what happens…

Thinking the 18 in the model number you posted means a 1.5 ton outdoor unit? Does that sound about right?

The residue on the deck is just water from when I lifted the stone. U really think those are causing air restriction?
    I ll check coils.
Both side are metal I don't see where air intake could be. Rear has coil exposed.

What u think about have bbq in front of it but without cover ??
    Last year worked fine

You mean your deck is so small that you can’t move the bbq and plant away from the unit and remove the planks on top?, curious where you located as never heard of that brand, unless it’s a regional brand somewhere in the good ole USA. When I mean the air intake, was referring to which direction does the air enter the coil, from the rear or from the front by the fan, as whichever that’s mainly the side to concentrate coil cleaning.

Doesn’t look like you got the 6”+ wall clearance among other things.

    Update :Noise comes and goes

I'm in canada , must be some no name brand I can't even from it on Google..
Yes deck is that small .
I have 7 " clearance to white wall and brick wall.
Intake is on the white wall side.
Otherside of white wall there is the neighbors unit

    Turn off your water heater
    Take a hot shower
Connect a garden hose to the water heater drain
Put a squirter attachment on the other end of the hose
Open the drain valve on the water heater

Now you have access to a hose.

Does it have a drain attachment for flushing with vinegar or whatever?
Also why have you not applied for pro status if you are a technician / installer? You'll get way more help on the pro side.

I'm tired of these mediocre "semi flammable" refrigerants. If we're going to do it let's do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

Even easier if it has the water service shut off valves on incoming cold and outgoing hot.
