20* where. At the compressor fine at the coil no good.
Is this a pressure limiting valve?
Can’t accurately adjust until at or near temperature.

Sounds like your TXV is too small if you have it turned wide open and still only have 50 psi

    Ive seen it before ...

Whats the number stamped on the valve ?

Make sure the Nozzle was put in also

At 90 f 300psi wouldn't surprise me depending on condenser efficiency.
350 probably wouldn't even be completely out of line....
But obviously the lower the better.
Pulling down a hot box will have elevated head pressure. If it's not tripping a safety then I rarely read head pressure until the box is down to temperature on a new install.
After the box is down to temperature, then you start measuring superheat and head pressure. Until then you are wasting time.

Without knowing the box size, compressor size, evaporator size " pink cartridge " means nothing.
Well other than it's rated at 1.5 ton.

None of this tells us anything without the following:

    Box size

    Evaporator Model

    Condensing unit model (not compressor)

You gave use the TXV size, as 1.5 ton based on how it’s built. But what power element, and why a SBQE instead of an SQE? I personally do not use balanced port valves except for a purpose that specifically calls for it (eg, flooded evap, some ice machines, smaller single pass evaps) but that is my preference.

    Liquid/Suction line sizing.

    Suction pressure at the condenser

    Suction pressure at the Evap.

I'm anxious to know what the problem was. Does it make temperature and shut off eventually? How far is the CU from the evap? Above or below?

    This should be fine.

    box 12 x 24 x 8

Btu Required is 12,960 with heavy use.

EDIT: That was off US Cooler’s website. The HeatCraft chart states around 20,000btu. So that’s sized correctly as well.

    50 psi at compressor

This is, if I remember, about a 5deg sst. That’s too low. I’ll get to what’s up. I think.

Install a SQE 3x4x2 with a Black/#5 cartridge and a KT43SC power element (which you have).

I believe that will solve your problem. I honestly do not think the balanced port will open up enough with the cartridge that is in it.

I’d suggest going with the White C cartridge for the balances port you have, but I don’t know if it will throttle down enough when the box gets to temp and load is down.

Someone else may disagree. But that’s my pennies worth.
