The American Welding Society defines Soldering as a joining process that takes place below 840*F, while Brazing takes place above 840*F.

I'm tired of these mediocre "semi flammable" refrigerants. If we're going to do it let's do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

It is a little little bit of funning, but it is a whole hell of a lot more about Professionalism. 52 years in trade and I have not welded.

    X2

Soldering, brazing, and welding are 3 very different things. In this trade, many people do all 3. As I was taught, soldering is done with lower temperature, brazing is done with higher temperature, and welding means actually melting the base metals and blending them together (with or without a filler rod). If it makes you feel big and cool tell everybody that you're welding copper, then by all means keep saying that's what you are doing, but if you'd like to portray an image of actually knowing what you're talking about, use the correct terms.

    Brazing uses capillary action
    Welding uses fusion

I agree and a bit of ribbing can help someone to get the point and use the right terms in the future. Or for some they take themselves too seriously and get offended and leave but that's their own problem.
