I been using m099 for years. It's practically the same as 407c but has hydrocarbons in it for oil return. And therefore a little loss in capacity.
Personally for me It's a wash. I use 407c as well, usually with some poe oil added or supco 88 to help oil return if it's mineral oil in the system.
And I'm pretty sure I get capacity loss with the supco 88 added same as with m099.
Now, the saving grace is that with the old 22 commercial air conditioning systems they were all oversized to start with. So my customers have been very happy.
If it's refrigeration, then there are better gases than 22 that I've already switched most of my systems to.
404a with a txv swap seems to work very well in old 22 freezer systems

Agreed Far too often the chiefs let what the little Indians say go in one ear, out the other and shrug it off the shoulder. All you can do is do the best you can with what you have to work with and allowed to do. On the flip side of your good enough and can bring some data or something along those lines to go with your ideas what you would like to do differently, especially if you can show how it can actually save time and or money, then you have their attention and can get somewhere. Just gotta know what you want and how to communicate it.

Every situation is different. From my experience the bosses in the office are usually the old seasoned techs who want nothing to do with hearing logic and reason. The people who are bosses may be great techs but are terrible managers. I’ve met 1 manager in my small career who had some field experience but could manage a group of techs and keep morale so high it would make snoop dog look straight.
