If I can’t get anything with one straw, I use a spoon.

This pump is sweet as can be, even an old cripple can get it up a ladder, think it only uses 6 oz. of oil so not for nasty contaminated systems. Sounds small at 1.58 cfm but I grew up with pumps smaller than that. I think it came from e-bay, i'll see if i can find one for you.

I found them I just can't figure out where they're made. I try hard to buy from countries other than china.

I'm tired of these mediocre "semi flammable" refrigerants. If we're going to do it let's do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

Thanks. It's the deeper understanding that I would like to get.

Any restriction that can be removed will help.

Search YouTube for better explanations/demonstrations by Jim Bergman or Bryan Orr at the HVAC School.
Seen a lot of their stuff, didn't notice that one. Gonna look for it now.

Been a while since I had a go at a Krazy-straw. Wasn't that hard when I was a kid, I'm assuming my little mouth was pulling too little "CFM" to gain from a larger hose.

Think this will work with beer too? I would probably be willing to give it a shot, you know for science, of course.

They can be found on Ebay, I had to open a link for dental/ medical vacuum pump to find what I have or very similar at their store. They manufacture a lot of industrial stuff, I don't think it's from China, works too well. Can't beat the price, size, and weight. It will pay for itself in oil changes. The one I saw was a little bigger than mine @ 1.8cfm, 25 microns, 1/4HP. One of the nicest pumps I've ever used

All I could find was rated for 40 microns and the company was very careful to not state that they manufacture anything. They mentioned design and distribution but not manufacturing so I'm still trying to figure out where they're made. It looks like I can actually buy them directly from the company though.
For the price I'll probably order one and find out when it comes in.

As to manufacture, hard to say. That 2cfm pump if you chase it down is 1.8cfm with ultimate vacuum at 25 microns. Champagne Il is the home of University of IL, huge place for math, science, physics, ect. Hard to get in unless you are in the top 5% of the nation. I would not be surprised in the least if VIOT was a start up company of grad students. whether they just design stuff and/or made it on/in school property machine shop IDK, but it is definitely high grade equipment wherever it's made.

I doubt that you will have any regrets.
I've got a machinist buddy that works in these high tech Universities helping students: understand machining, build projects, make prototypes, ect. I think he is at a UofI extension in Chicago now building projects to spec, no student involvement, just cranking out prototypes.

I got a 1.35 cfm that pulls into single digits. It fits in the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket with hoses and whatnot. No way I'd want to use it for everyday things. No way for service.

    Vacuum Pumps

Using a 6 cfm pump and a gauge manifold set that has a 3/8 port on it will really speed up your evacuation times.

Do you want to sell it?
Or at least post the brand and model?

I don't recommend it for service work or high ambient.

It only takes 4 oz oil. I like it. And it is swiss so it goes together with my PB Swiss screwdrivers perfectly.

Well I'm probably 40 years behind the times but that's the way I prefer to do it.

I can tell you from experience that using the 3/8 port on the pump and a 3/8 hose takes a quarter of the time to pull a system down below 500 microns than using a standard 1/4" hose.
