Is the Bryant Evolution Conexx Tstat really smart?

We have had our new heat pump for about two months and I'm still trying to get a handle on how the thermostat works. Previous to this I had an Ecobee4 and it was really smart.

My issue right now is with getting the house warmed up and understanding how the system works. In the evening, the SLEEP mode is set to 67 degrees. The WAKE mode was set to begin at 6:00 a.m and at 71 degrees. The system seemed to learn how long it took to warm things up, but yesterday I changed the WAKE startup to 6:15. This morning outdoor temperature was 41F and the heat didn't actually start running until 6:15. Does this mean every time I change the schedule the system has to learn it all over again? Am I doing something wrong? Are my expectations set too high?

I'm looking for more insight how the system "thinks". I didn't see anything in the thermostat owner's manual.

    Thanks.

Yes. It also relearns based on how quick / slow the house temperature changes. Could take a couple days.

Thanks. So, does it reset itself when you change the on-time?
