I don't know about Daikin, but Trane requires ALL techs carry ladders on racks like this. At least our office did.

I believe the ladder rack is DAS Office dependent. Daikin Applied Service (this van is branded as the new Daikin DBS) seems to focus more on Chillers CAS/Scroll, as a whole. Here in AZ, the Manufacturer’s Rep seems to focus on the smaller LC including Scroll. In GA, the Office (DA Svc Center) seems to oversee all DA products start-up.
As Trane seems to be concerned, larger Offices have LC and Chiller teams separately. Smaller Offices have combined teams. I’ve seen Trane doing start-up on 5TR Packages before, in the Desert SW and in GA.

No ladders on or in my truck , truck doesn’t even have racks for them .

My new truck came with a ladder rack. First thing I did was remove it. I have a little 6’ stepped up to the top on the inside. I rarely have to get it out.

Had a cool pic of a Daikin van a few years back, completely upside down. Got t-boned by a Mercedes sports car, nosed under the van a flipped it. Tech said hanging upside-down helped his prior back problems.

Without showing what happened to this driver, you can take a guess. This was leaving a job site, NO skid marks, about a short block (back-to-houses separated by an alley) from the main intersection. 100 feet maybe?

When I got my last truck at Trane, I also removed a ladder rack. I only carried a 6' stepladder, too. Then when Alabama Trane "merged" with Georgia Trane (more like Alabama Trane absorbed by Georgia Trane) we were all told to install racks and carry tall ladders. Just one of the many straws that broke this old camel's back. Mainly the RTU work that came with it. Man, I so despise roof work that if I had to do that from the beginning, I would have never gotten into this trade.

I’ve always liked a mixed bag. Maybe got bored doing Centrifugal or Screw work for weeks at a time, or so I thought. I was like, I wouldN’T mind a day or two on the roof. Then I spend 8 hours on a rooftop in Phoenix.

Hmmm, funny thing is it's possible I had the same Service Manager as you, yet we were told that we ALL had to have ladder racks...

I had to explain to a manager once who asked me why i had a ladder rack, that it wasn’t a ladder rack, but a canoe rack. Was on the road a lot so carried my canoe and fishing gear.

I believe there’s an ordinance in Tucson that commercial buildings needed to have roof access. Now if the keys were available for the fixed ladder or the electrical room was a different story.
