My neighbor (one of the few I will look at stuff for) flagged me down a couple years back early one season. Said the ac was working for a little bit then not.

Walked up to his condenser and found it hog tied with a tarp. Fan running no compressor noise.

Took the tarp off, shut it down, had him run a hose over the compressor for the duration of a couple beers.

Turned it back on and went home.

I run into these all the time. WHere I'm at its all mountains and houses are built on hills so like 95% of the population has a deck. and a few of them come up with the bright idea to put it right over the existing condenser....

Truthfully, most of them still work, not very good but they do work. But a few will start getting really high head and then bypass.

It has a small pass through in the deck. Blows caps a couple times a year.
