She had it cooling to 60*f in outdoor temperatures below 75. I think it got down in the 40s at night even. That was one big ice cube and it took a long time to thaw.

Yeah this was definitely not the worst but I was still rather shocked when she said she wanted it to be 60°. I told her that I would have to install a walk-in cooler for her.

I'm pretty sure the real problem is shoulder season humidity as pretty much everybody in this area has that problem whether they realize it or not so I told her to buy a cheap dehumidifier and run that because I bet she'll be comfortable at a much warmer temperature. But yeah I don't recommend cleaning your house to 60° when it's 40 out.
As far as the ice ball goes it had been off all day so this was definitely not the biggest ice ball I've seen although it was one soggy furnace.

It is a rental so I told her not to turn it below 65*f and not to run it when its below 65*f outside. The rental agency tells them not to turn it below 70*f.

Just put a condenser fan cycling control on the condenser fan and be done with it!

... oh, and a hot gas bypass.

    ... quenching valve ...

You know what, just install a Liebert and be done with it!
Quickly, I must hurry, for there go my people and I am their leader!
