So many things wrong on one house.

There was no conduit on the 240 volt wires going to the condensing unit. Rodents were using the line set hole as an attic access and the dryer vent was just blowing out in the attic.
I was there on a no cooling call because the thermostat wire had been chewed through.
Needless to say I replaced the wiring with a new whip and blew some spray foam in the hole that the mice had been using before replacing the thermostat wire.

I'm tired of these mediocre "semi flammable" refrigerants. If we're going to do it let's do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

    But wait there's more.
It also called for a Max 30 amp fuse and it had 60 amp fuses on it. Of course I had to replace those.

What about the temporary suction line drier? You replace that?

Nope opening the system costs too much and for a pile like that it's not worth it. Now if I had to have the system open for some reason I would definitely remove it.
I hate to admit this but a few years ago when I first started out I helped put a new furnace and coil in that system and we did not remove the filter. My boss should have known better and had me do it because I was just starting out and didn't know anything.
