Coil repair day I guess
2 coils repaired before lunch today. The ptac I did just to see if I could. It’s a 2008 r22 ge. Figured if I didn’t fix it it was going on trash so I figured since I never repaired a coil out in the field of fins I would try. It held, charged it up and installed it in a unit.
Little glob on the bottom I was more concerned with the fire alarm then the repair on this one.
1996 Goodman with a carrier n coil. Leaking where the tube enters the header. Figured for 15 minutes of time why not. Plus it ls a crane job to replace the ac. They know it’s a 96 but they are okay with it. Versus the cost of a new 3 ton coil.
On the vac now hope to be charged and out of here by 1230.

Good job.
What kind of brazing rod did you use?

I'm tired of these mediocre "semi flammable" refrigerants. If we're going to do it let's do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

Just standard Harris 15%. I did however sand and then flux both repairs before hitting them with the torch. Used Harris stay clean before I brazed them. Not needed I know but does not hurt either in my eyes.
