    All bound up

I am working in a Trane CGAM110F. s/n U11H24480, I have an alarm that says exv #2 is not communicating. Went on TechView binding report and got the red face. Tried to bind it, but not getting the green light. It has been a while, but where should I see the green light ?
This is a Sporlan SVSC -1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like a wire or plug problem. Will one of the other llid cables reach it. Switch them around and see if your problem moves to the other device.

Thanks for your reply, this is not the flat clear cable that had the 4 wires inside and those crimp clamps. I lifted the epoxies electronic module and it does not look healthy. Where on this module should I see the green LED.

I am not 100%, but if it is the newer style exv, your binding light will be on the connector that connects it to the main harness. Not on the exv itself like the older style with the little window.

You could also turn on all the lights and find what lights up on the other exv.

Unfortunately nothing lights up on this valve or the working valve. I put all LED's on and the sensors all lit up, but the valves and/ or connectors did not light up. The other EXV is working, but not lighting up, at least I can't see it anywhere.

Can you get a picture of the valve and the connector?

Did you try switching the pluggable connectors around. I’ve seen them turn all green inside, you probably have a bad cable.

The LED may still be covered over by a small round piece of tape or something that they apply prior to painting. They put that there so the little "window" doesn't get painted over, and it's usually left there. Look closely for it on the LLID.

Thank you sir That is what I needed to see. We have rain right now so I won't be back there til next week. But at least now I know what I am looking for. When I pulled the vomm cable apart it looked likr it was brand new. No corrosion any where. The area where the LED is located needs to be cleaned up before I try it again. Thank you so much for your help. GA

With the chiller powered on unplug the valve and plug it in again , the LED should blink as you plug it in .

Thanks to both of you for all your help. I have found the green LED and it will light when I put all LED on. It will also light when I attempt to bind it and run my magnet by it. But it does not stay lit when I pull the magnet away. I tried putting the magnet where it will hold the LED lit, but when I attempt to bind it I still get not communicating. Am I looking at a new EXV ? Or am I still missing something ?

You can swap the module from the other EXV to see if it communicates. There is a split black plastic cover that holds the wires into the valve.

Just remember to un-bind the other module if you want to test run that on the other valve.

Yes, thanks did that with the unbinding and changing the module the module ftom circuit #1 did bind. Unfortunately you can't get the module. So I guess I doing the superseded EXV change out. Any advice on SB's or TechView data that has to be done when changing out the original valve with the new replacement. At least it isn't as bad as the RTAA valve change out. I did several 400 ton units.

Just download the new software for the new EXV and you'll be fine, it's in Techview, be sure you have the latest service pack
