Reminds me of a story I heard years ago at an airport (small airport, experimental aircraft)...
Seems one of the old timers... was a military pilot in his youth...
He was flying transports with troops in the back.
He and his co-pilot buddy would sneak in a case of empty beer cans (carefully washed out, so NO chance of anyone mounting a viable legal challenge)... into the cockpit before taking off.
Then, after they were an hour or so out over the ocean... they would roll one can down the isle from the cockpit at a time...
After about a dozen had been 'dispatched'... they would start gently rolling the aircraft back and forth... just a little.
He said it worked literally every time...
To keep the noise down back in the cargo area...
