    My family Spaghetti.

I figured I would share my very unusual version of spaghetti.
    First the story.
When I was dating my wife she was living with her family and I was living in a rundown shack of a rental and I didn't cook much in fact in a whole year all I remember actually cooking was Spaghetti once and a boiled crockpot chicken twice.
So I had moved several states from where I grew up to be close to my girl and I was dying for the food I grew up with.

    ....to be continued after dinner.....

I'm tired of these mediocre "semi flammable" refrigerants. If we're going to do it let's do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

I was living on peanut butter and Nutella on white bread and mountain dew and buying a few spices felt expensive.

So I made a simple spaghetti that I was fairly proud of and I took some too my girl for her to try and so was born our spaghetti.
After we got married we slowly worked together on it until it got to what it is today 6 years later.

I just have to say that I am a horrible food photographer.

    Recipe

    • 2 to 4 young zucchini
    • 2 to 4 young tender yellow straight neck squash
    • 1 white onion
    • 8 oz package of white mushrooms
    • 1lb lean ground beef (preferably organic grass fed or locally grown)
    • 4 slices bacon
•1 to 2 24oz jars of Prego fresh mushroom sauce.

    For spices I use:

    Basil
    Italian seasoning
    Cajun seasoning
    Garlic powder
    Onion powder
    Ground Cayenne powder
Sam's choice peppercorn medley freshly ground

First crisp the bacon and chop it into small pieces then cook the beef in a cast iron pan until it has crispy pieces. Mix the beef with the bacon bits and set aside.

Cut the onions however you like. I like it big and my wife likes it small so I cut it small.
Saute the onion in the pan used for cooking the beef (add some water if necessary to deglaze the pan)
Then add all of the squash cut into chunks. I like them about 3/4". Cook until soft and tender. While cooking start seasoning. (Sorry but I can't write that part down because I just go by smell and taste.)
Once the squash is done add the beef and bacon and cook a couple of minutes before adding the sauce and finishing up the seasoning.
Suddenly remember that you forgot to cook the noodles that give the meal its name.
    Enjoy.
I have never had anyone not like it although it tends to surprise them.

At some point during the cooking the veggies stage i usually have to switch from the cast iron to a stock pot.

    Ok I am finished.
If you are in my area just come by for dinner and I will cook it for you.

I love spaghetti! What I love the most about it is that you can put different topping or sauce and it's a new dish straight away. So many options

We actually make something very similar to this ....

It doesnt look like spaghetti to you ... because you cant see the noodles in the picture

This is the sauce .. to put on the noodles

I leave out the Cajun & Cayenne spices tho ... and add 1/4 cup sugar ( hey, if he wants to make it wrong , thats up to him LOL )

Mine is very different than most people's. I often just eat the sauce with no noodles.
