This is all cool till the wires get to waving like snakes!!!
Anyone ever seen wires wiggling like a snake?

I've seen conduit jump up and down on a roof like a fish out of water. Does that count?

I've had parking lot light poles that never tripped the breaker just burned up the wire connection. Also had one with 460volts on one wire.
I'll take that back 484volts to ground.
Hanging out with the mice behind the fridge talking bad about the roaches in the oven.

I plugged a dryer into a surface mounted plug with exposed metal conduit and both hot lines were not connected inside the enclosure so they hit ground and every joint in the conduit exploded in my face. Thankfully the FPE breaker tripped.
Edit: It really woried me because I had just soldered on an incorrectly sized terminal to the appliance side so my mind was going 100mph trying to figure out what I did wrong and how much damage i may have done to the dryer.

I'm tired of these mediocre "semi flammable" refrigerants. If we're going to do it let's do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

Mine was because of a minimally shorted compressor. I say minimally because it wasn't shorted enough to trip the breaker, nor was it shorted enough to give me a an ohm reading to ground.

I know I'm crazy but electricity is my favorite part of this business.

Last summer I was told that a couple of residential type air conditioners that we installed were finally wired up by the electricians and ready to start. My apprentice and I got there to find pull-out style fused disconnects, with no fuses in them. I went to my truck and got a piece of 1/2" copper and cut up some pieces and jammed them in there and pushed the things back into the disconnects. My apprentice's eyes got really big as he stood there quiet and just kind of stared at me weird. Kind of like this...
I had him go thru superheat and subcooling and fine tune the charge while I walked off to do some other stuff. Shortly later my phone rang and it was my boss asking if I really did what I did.
I had to explain that it was temporary and I had planned to go get some fuses, I really just wanted to see what the apprentice would say. I also mentioned that they didn't even really need the fuses, since the breakers were the right size. He yelled at me and told me to go get the stupid fuses.
I then tried to explain to the apprentice that my home made fuses were alright since the breakers were the correct size. He wasn't buying it. He just kept saying "yeah, but that's not right, you can't do that". He's a good kid, one of the best apprentices that I've seen in a while.
i actually do the same, lol but only as needed for function and knowing the breaker is the correct size.. i have used 1" copper and hammered the ends for the blade type fuse replacements..if i dont have it on my truck i hardwired it with a notification clearly listed, it has been bypassed
on another 24v tstat jumper wire, for testing purposes, one bare end was touching the frame and i stripped the other end but let go of the wire accidentally...it hit the high side 460 leg of the rtu transformer and it vaporized right in front of me with a black mark left on the frame.....i still thought there might be a small piece left over but ..NOPE! i did real magic that day! lol
Worked at a plant once where the maintenance people who were doing the hvac service before us... were taking 600 volt fuses into their shop and soldering lengths of number ten wire between the ends.
I’ll see if I can find one of those fuses... think I posted about it on the site but it was years back.
They did a real neat job.. the wires were very straight... good solder joints... they took pride in their work... lol
