Furnace ALWAYS turns off at 72 and turns back on again, if set above 72

Furnace always shuts off at 72 and turns back on again

So, I had this problem last year and once the weather got better I completely forgot. Now, with the colder temperatures I need my furnace again and the problem is back.

The problem is that anytime i set my thermostat to above 72. The furnace will shut off at 72 and start a few sec later on again. As long my thermostat is set to 72 the furnace won’t shut off ans back on again. This is very annoying as I may at times have my temp set to 74. It shuts off at 72 and goes back on a few sec later.

The company which installed our furnace came out and replaced the flame sensor as well a new filter. The problem continued. We contacted them back again and they said we may need a new thermostat. We had the alarm company replace our thermostat. Now, we have the same problem. The house was at 65 and we set out thermostat to 74. It shut off at 72 and turned back on a few seconds later and worked till 74.

This problem is very annoying and nobody is able to help us. Is there anyone who knows what the problem could be?

Our thermostat is set to OFF on smart assistance and the schedule is on OFF as well.

    Thank you for your help.

Does the fan run while it shuts off because it could be tripping the limit.
You really need to have a tech out when it is acting up or when it normally acts up.

I'm tired of these mediocre "semi flammable" refrigerants. If we're going to do it let's do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

No, nothing runs. It completely stops. The tech keeps saying it has something to do with the thermostat and the alarm company says it has to do with the furnace....

Have them put a regular thermostat on as a test. If it stops doing it, its the stat, if it continues, its not the stat.

Well it could be the heat exchanger is getting too hot and shutting off on the high limit safety, it could be a problem with the thermostat itself.
Unfortunately diagnosing this over the internet isn't really possible as there are many variables.

is this a Leviton thermostat? with a Leviton security system? have the security company check the "installer guide" make sure the Heating limit isn't set to 72°.

    or

Have a tech jump the proper terminals out and see if the furnace runs past 72°, runs constantly. If it runs constantly, its thermostat issue, if not its a furnace issue.
Why am I the only naked person at this gender reveal party

Is that one of the models that kills the power to the R terminal until the high limit resets. If so, could be that its tripping the high limit, and then after the limit closes, its taking the stat a minute or 2 to bring the furnace back on.

I strongly dislike alarm company thermostats and i don't think most of the alarm company techs are qualified to properly set up a thermostat. At least not in my area.

You should be able to find someone on the contractor locator.
