    Oil to XV18

Long time customer decided after filling 2 275 gallon oil tanks that they didn't want oil heat any more. XV18 system with a humidifier and ERV was their decision. Also installed an I-wave. Still have to return and remove both tanks and 550 gallons of oil.

Looks good. I like seeing test holes for airflow measurements.

Should've got them to get a Aprilaire 800

Thanks again. Always testing now! I go through plugs almost as fast as screws now. I don't have a lot of experience with steam humidifiers outside of the Honeywell trusteams, which were mostly a disaster. Are the aprilaire 800s pretty trouble free?

A good looking TAM9 paired with the XV18. Without trying to steal the other post above, I've always been a fan of the 800s. I've never had any troubles with them, and it seems like the steam canisters hold up a lot better than the standard 400/700 filters. I always install them on a 240V circuit, so that's really my only pain I'll have with them if the panel isn't near by.

    OH YES!

the trusteam has been trash since they came out.

The 800 is a canister type. It uses 2 waffle type electrodes built into a tank with a water level sensor. Replace once a year. It can go longer but standard practice is yearly. Canisters are about $60

The 800 hooks to cold water line. When it drains, it mixes cold water with the hot tank water to lower the temp so your drain lines and pumps to melt and sag.

    This looks really good.

But why the multiple size changes and offset in the return drop. Looks like there is all the room in the world. Why not run the return up the full width of the elbow and make a fresh cut wherever it lands in the trunk?

The top fitting on the drop is just to expand the opening into the return trunk, the offset below that is only an offset and I believe it was 5" I guess to satisfy my desire to not patch the return duct as well as not have to cut through the slip joint.

Very cool. I have another XV18 system in a crawlspace that the customer wants a humidifier now. I will definitely look into these. I was already considering steam because of a lack of sufficient flat surface area for a fan powered.

Picture is deceiving. Plenty of room to take the whole thing out or work on it

What state are you in? Will they be able to rely just a heat pump for heat?

Nice work, are you grabbing air from the side and bottom? I’ve never used the side return kit on a tam. The length of them makes setting on a stand tricky In most basements.
