Synergy Management Group is hiring an experienced Building Automation Installer & Service Technician for the DC/NOVA/MD area. This is a subcontract position on a project basis with room to grow. Applicants must be licensed and insured and provide own tools and vehicle.
Reporting to the President of Synergy Management Group, the BAS Technician is responsible for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of building automation systems. A qualified candidate can demonstrate an aptitude for problem solving, time management and balancing completing priorities while on-site. The ideal candidate can demonstrate in-depth knowledge of HVAC, building automation, energy management, and network communications. Synergy is a Tridium Niagara integrator and also services and integrates other systems including JCI FX, Siemens, ALC, Trane, Honeywell, Distech, KMC, Alerton.
Building Automation Installation/Service Technician—BAS/HVAC Controls
Controls Installation
Troubleshoot & diagnostic skills
Knowledge of automation systems, HVAC, electrical concepts, and building operations preferred
Use of a variety of hand tools and instruments for installation of controls systems
Install conduit and hang control panels
Pull and terminate wires to controllers, components, and devices using wiring diagrams, and installation instructions
Install electrical wiring between controls and equipment according to wiring diagram; work with push up ceilings, hard lid ceilings, fire demising walls, floor to floor
Install sensors, actuators, and control devices
Standard design symbols common to industry
Work from floor plans, blueprints, specifications, and schematics
Document work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files as required
Record parts, material, labor, and other cost data per assignment and return unused resources
Minimum qualifications include:
Conduit and Control Panel Installations
Wire pulling
Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams
Termination of control wires
Understanding of various sensor types, control devices and respective control signals
Basic electrical troubleshooting skills
Lock out / tag out procedures
Understanding of Analog and Digital Signals
Understanding of 24VAC electrical systems
Troubleshoot basic controls circuits including starters, safety shutdowns and typical HVAC systems
Basic refrigeration cycle
Air Handler and Rooftop Unit construction in VAV and constant volume applications
General pumping and fluid system application
Control valve and damper wiring used in commercial HVAC applications
Variable Frequency Drives
Basic automation system topologies
Communications links and protocols
Demonstrate and promote a spirit of cooperation and teamwork throughout Synergy
Provide backup support for other team members
Continually look for ways to improve our processes and ability to serve our customers effectively
