Hello, my grandmother has a manufactured home and we just had a new A/C unit installed today. I guess it's a little too late to ask this question, but thought I'd ask anyways.

Sunday we had a quote to have it replaced, it was 92 degrees in the house and it had to be done ASAP, Tuesday was when they could do it. I couldn't wait around for more A/C companies to come out on other days, it was an emergency situation. (Phoenix, AZ, 115 outside).

It's a split unit, this is what the invoice says "4 Ton heat pump: DAY&NIGHT/MORTEX, SSMHP, 4 Ton MORTEX COIL & A/H 14 SEER, 11.5 EER, AHRI #202540954 Day and Night N4H448GKP Condenser".

I was told that they had to install a "Maratherm" outdoor condenser unit. Not sure if that's what the Day & Night is? I had gotten a call saying they wouldn't be able to get the Day & Night in time and they would need to swap it out with the Maratherm.

Also included was a 10 year parts and labor warranty on the condenser, but being a manufactured home the evap unit is 5 year parts, 1 year labor.

Anyways, the unit seems to be working good. Just wondering what you guys think. Thanks!

Please excuse the mess outside, I will get it cleaned up once it isn't 115 outside.

Maratherm R4 is a Mexican N4.

How that?

Carrier owns it all. All of the Carrier brands use the bottom feeder Mexican names, unadvertised, as the bottom dollar, mostly for multi family or new construction. The ICP division of Carrier sells the R4 as a Maratherm not their regular brands. Bryant & Carrier have their names on it but you won't find it on their websites. It was only recently that they appeared on the dealer site. Payne was the first of the Carrier family to sell the Mexican product. The N4 is made in America but otherwise is identical. The R4 is less loot than the N4 so that might be something to discuss.

Now you have the rest of the story. If installed properly, it will do fine. We use them on a local hotel as the Carrier family is the only one we know with a 14" wide indoor blower.

I'm not sure you can register the Maratherm for a 10 year parts warranty since you are not using a matching ICP coil. If you have 10 year labor, find out who is backing it.
