Dimmer on Four way circuits, and circuits with Four Switces?

I think I know the answer, but want to check before I buy the $$$ LED Dimmer. Do you put the Dimmer on the SPDT Switch to get it to work, in conjunction with the other DPDT switches?

The ones I have in my house are a three way switch. Lutrons.

Not sure if they make the 4 way switch in a dimmer. Think out load now, not sure of it matters if it’s at the switch with the load or the line. I have them both ways in various spots. Haven’t noticed problems... but then again never read of it matters.

In my 55 years of electrical work, I've never seen a 4 way dimmer. (your DPDT referenced above)

Proceed on the basis that the 4 way isn't even there.

One S3 dimmer (SPDT) to replace only one of the S3 switches.
Either end of the switching circuit......not 2 dimmers in the circuit.

Some high end dimmers require a neutral connection which you may not have at either end.
Get a dimmer that does't need a neutral.
