I dont think flexible can be used as a ground whatsoever , only EMT
I have a question regarding wire/ conduit between a j box and an exhaust fan. The old unit had two wires inside of metal flexible conduit that couples into rigid conduit inside the building leading to a j box, shares a circuit with a bathroom light and returns to the breaker box. This joint where it goes rigid to flexible is difficult to access. The new fan has electrical access for the cable that is smaller than the existing flexible cable. I’d like to make a good ground with the least effort. Is there an acceptable method of joining two sizes of flexible cable for use as ground? The internal wire would remain the same. Thanks

Can you punch a larger hole in the new fan terminal space, then use existing fmc and connector? Splicing fmc to fmc is kinda hack.
Code allows six feet or less of fmc to use as a ground per article 250.
