Post Devices to control hvac controllers through wifi/zigbee

I have a RaspberryPi connected to a ZigBee module and also connected to a wireless network. I have a controller connected to a thermostat. The controller supports MODbus RTU & BACnet MS/TP. What can I use to read and write to the controller using the RaspberryPi. Do I use a gateway? Could I use a router(BACnet MS/TP to BACnet/ZigBee)? Thank you for the help.

You will need a router to get your communications packets from the serial communications to IP so that the raspberry pi can utilize the data. Unless you want to try this on expert mode, then you could prototype a RS-485 adapter to your serial input via the pins on the pi. I would recommend against that unless you have spare time on your hands.
