Sorry, my bad. Anyway, it's done & running again. Billing is TBD. Discussion ongoing as to whether there can be any concession from what the bottom line was going to be, per the quote book.

Right, I did talk to Lennox early on. They opened a case file on the matter. Haven't heard anything about a Tech Bulletin on it.

What if it had taken longer than anticipated? The contractor wouldn’t hit you up for more money. That’s the purpose of flat rate pricing, so everyone involved knows upfront what it will cost. Some times the contractor “wins” and sometimes the homeowner “wins”. In the end it’s a wash.

OK. The whole experience this week tells me that in the future I should go elsewhere for diagnosis/repair.

Potentially, I’m sure I could fix it but what happens when it cracks there again because of some vibration etc that caused it in the first place. A new compressor will fix it for sure and not add much time to the job which the OP clearly doesn’t want to pay for.

I’ve seen 2 pumps leak at the body. 1 was Warranty NC
The other out of warranty. Easy brace and fix!

I’m just saying don’t be quick to throw the tech under the bus for the decision to replace the compressor. He could’ve seen something we can’t from the internet. At least he found the problem instead of just gassing it back up and collecting a check.

    Agreed
It’s just getting hard to justify some of the B S that’s posted.
