    Would not touch this unless it is in your own home. Liability and entanglement with AHJ not worth even thinking about it!

    Take the old one to a motor shop and have it rebuilt?

    Looks VERY old and probably unobtainium.

    I dont work on elevators, just posting some pics for OP. The elevator guy at this site like to leave the door off the unit. Should have taken a pic of the control panel as well.

    Previously DC series motors were used but now 3 phase variable frequency drives are used.
