How was the pressures in heat mode, equalized also, ( having your low side gauge hooked to the common suction? )

Is this for a customer? If so sounds like a expensive repair for whomever by not dialing in the root cause. Doesn't your company you work for have a senior Tech. versed in Heat Pumps?

    I was thinking that also.
I have a policy in place where none of our average techs can diagnose an improperly shifting reversing valve without calling a senior techs.
It's just to much money to lose.

A halfway shifted valve is pretty easy to test for using a temp probe.
Goodman's service manual for your unit does a good job explaining this.

"Dude, you need more than 2 wires to a condenser to run a 2 stage heatpump."

    "Just get it done son."

Light tap with a solid object should shift it completely & also your indoor fan will stay off if coil temp doesn’t get to the preset to switch it.
The primary function of the design engineer is to make things difficult for the fabricator and impossible for the serviceman.

To check if the solenoid reversing valve is functioning, it is necessary to measure the resistance of its winding with a multi-scale measuring device (amperevoltometer).
