    New Honeywell Products; EagleHawk

So from what I hear the the USA release of the EagleHawk in the coming weeks. Has anyone seen or worked with them yet? I had a quick intro at a contractor appreciation day in the fall.

I am mostly excited about the scalability as well as live programming wire sheets in Tridium. I think they also allow a graphical UI? I feel like we are a little late to that game but glad we are getting something.

Should be interesting, What are your thoughts?

Speaking of new products. That LCBS line looks interesting. The price point will have to be low and expectations kept to a minimum I would say, but I am sure it has a place.

Just curious on the Honeywell guys thoughts on the new products coming..
Gotta have the right tool for the job!

Where is all the stuff MADE IN THE USA?

"Thats what we do Troy. Incredible, Invisible, Imbelivable things. We are an Unseen, Unknown, Unvincible fraternity of craftsman.."

EagleHawk operates virtually the same as the Hawk (Jace).
It is slightly different in that it has more on board rs485 ports, it has an IP over usb laptop connection port, has direct on board io and works with the HW white p-bus distributed io modules.
HW are also going to release a version of EagleHawk that has an on board hmi screen.
The controller is a direct port of the Excel Web 2 or XL2000 device from CARE to AX. HW have also ported pretty much the whole CARE application libary to AX to go with it. There is also a new AX kit control pallette called clHVAC which is basically the whole logic block library from CARE also. As long as you are using 3.8.111 these new pallettes can be used in either a EagleHawk or Hawk (Jace).
This means you can pretty much port your existing CARE logics into AX. Currently you need to 're build them, but you can 're build them exactly block for block and the logic will function exactly the same. It will also pretty much look exactly the same.
So much so in fact that they haven't even bothered to alter the application library block info docs. They have just used the CARE one's so when you open the help file in AX the doc shows you CARE and even has the old CARE schematics etc.
Although this is not confirmed we believe that this is the start of the complete phase out of CARE. In the UK, Honeywell Centraline hasn't really supported CARE for a number of years now.

The reason the new controller is called EagleHawk is because Honeywell Centraline call the Excel Web 2 an Eagle and they call the Jace a Hawk. So it is an Eagle that operates as a Hawk. EagleHawk.
    Ahh, those Germans.....

The EagleHawk appears to be a direct load of AX on top of the same hardware that supports the XL2000 (Eagle).

Honeywell has recreated the logic block library from Care-Smartcon (Care- Smartcon described below). In doing so, they have loaded some of the most important parts of the Care-Smartcon library and have left out the following components critical to functionality.

The Macro Library which provides the ability to create and publish macros as self-contained logic blocks
The ability to import all the old XFMs from CARE-XL500 into the library
Switching Tables which are a valuable component of unique XL2000 programming engine
The EagleHawk seems to struggle with the overhead requirements of a JACE and as such, cannot support the same load that an Eagle can and it also appears that the EagleHawk has a greater startup time then an Eagle.

The Eagle is a native BACnet controller and all datapoints are created as BACnet objects.

I believe that the EagleHawk creates all datapoints as Niagara Fox objects which have to be exported to BACnet if required.

    Description of CARE-XL500 and CARE-Smartcon:

The CARE-XL500 program is the 16 bit application dating back to the early 90s. It was used to create an ObjectServer database for programming, loading and startup of the C-Bus XL5000 controllers

I believe the CARE-Smartcon program is the newer 32 bit application originally developed in the early 2000s and under continued development today. It is used to create an ObjectServer database for programming, loading and startup of the BACnet controllers which are marketed as part of the XL5000 lineup (XL1000 or falcon, XL2000 or Eagle).

Both CARE programs write to the same ObjectServer database, so it is possible to create a common system where C-Bus and BACnet controllers can "Talk" to each other via the shared LonWorks protocol.

The Centraline product still uses both CARE-Smartcon and CARE-XL500. I believe the CentralineAX product does not utilize either version of CARE

It would be a shame to see the CARE-Smartcon tool and Eagle (XL2000) disappear. The combined power and effectiveness of these products are uniquely designed to support large and complex projects.

5 minute boot up time with a blank station.
I don't get why anyone would want that in a plant controller.

Keeps it in line with the speed of the field devices.

Price is correct, I ll place an order and try it.
Big problem with this product, it's not open, you need HX workbench but of course there is a web base for programming, service, etc but....

typically most field controllers are not open. Unless they're sedona. and even sedona has hardware specific logic so if you take the program from easy IO and load to another company it will throw an exception when it tries to load.

Vykon doesn't have field controllers only jaces.

This thread is about the Eagle AX which is not a supervisor controller but a field controller. Its released as a plant controller. Just that it uses Niagara AX as its programming software thats all.

I think the days are coming when people will buy parts from 4 different vendors for controllers like Pneumatic
days but we're not quite there yet. The system has to shift since theres lots of mouths to feed. And we don't want to just race to the bottom, not good for anyone.

I sent you the files requested. That's all I have. I'm not prepared to send you the complete workbench software. This is software we have to purchase every year and will not work anyway without the correct licence agreements. Sorry
