about a year ago I bought out a friends hvac inventory because he was retiring and wasnt having any luck selling the company. the original plan was to eventually start my own small company. now that plan has changed and i'm not going to be a stressed out over worked business owner. where and how is the best way to go about selling all this stuff? i'm talking capacitors, contactors, relays, Blower motors, carrier RTU control boards, Vision pro 8000's etc etc.. all this stuff is new and unused but I don't want to list each thing separately on Ebay or craigslist

Some have bundled a bunch of stuff and sold on EBay. As long as it doesn't weigh much because of shipping.
I listed some stuff on Craig's List w/o a bite. But that doesn't mean you won't.
There are some draw backs and the largest is no warranty. W/O a warranty there is little attraction for used anything. Some might risk it, I wouldn't except for cheap stuff.

You could sell it in lots if you don't want to list it out separately. Ebay, Craigslist, Buy & Sell Apps, Local Facebook Groups, and Online Forums (Facebook) are all good places. Sometimes, local organizations/businesses will send out an email blast for you. And you can always just ask around and call companies. There are probably plenty that would be excited to buy it off you and like the convenience of it.

My answer has become use it myself, give it to friends, or throw it in the trash. I refuse to sell almost anything on Craigslist, Ebay, or Facebook. It's all just a bunch of time wasting and inconsiderate *******s.

One time I bought a new sailboat and wanted sell my previous boat. I forget how much but I think eventually I lowered the price to something like $1500. because people would call: Can I come by on Saturday?

Sure - what time?

How about 9:00A?

Good; see you then.

9:00 - 10:00 - 11:00 - no answer on their phone. 12:00 - 1:00 - and the day shot in the ass.

Some I would never hear from again and others would later say they didn't realize how far away it was; can I come on Sunday? or maybe some day next week?

If anyone ever did show up, and always hours late, they would want to talk about boats, sailing, take pictures, tell stories, and generally piss away time. Often wanting to come back with their wife. <g>

Now don't forget: I already had a new sailboat and wanted to sail it. So all this non-buying, tire kicking, weekend outing, nonsense was depriving me of my weekend sailing and . . . not selling the boat. The $1500. starts to seem like nothing pretty quick. Finally I gave the boat to some girl and in the end had to deliver it.

I have sold things on ebay - but now I'm like the Jews: Never Again.

If you can't bear to throw it all away maybe donate it to a trade school?

I used to sell a decent amount of stuff on line, especially on eBay. I liked it. It was impersonal and straightforward. But over time eBay has been charging more and more for their fee’s and shipping has gone up so much , it just hasn’t been worth it anymore for me.

Craigslist and OfferUp are too sketchy. I see too many stories about people being set up and robbed, plus I don't want some weirdo from the internet coming over. eBay is OK if you have the time and patience to deal with it. I ended up taking most of my collection to work and now I just give it to customers when they need it.
