Any thoughts as to where the furnace filter is?

Hi everyone, new home owner here. I'm looking to replace my furnace filter, but can't find it despite all the guides and posts that I've read. It looks like my furnace is downflow, so I checked the top. But there is no obvious box for the filter, just ducts.

On the furnace itself, I took the bottom panel off and just found the controller. I couldn't take the top panel off (the panel with "Tempstar" logo) because it was stuck somehow.

Any thoughts as to where I should check? Many thanks in advance.

Top of Furnace. Note that the duct goes into the adjacent wall, which is a 5-ft long airspace that terminates at a hallway vent. I looked through the vent and it's just empty space.

check at the return air grills. You may also want to have someone visit that condensate line, no trap.
