WebCTRL Update

I hate to bother the forum with this, but I have a problem I have not had to deal with as of yet. I work for a systems integrator that is integrating a large site. This is with our custom software.

I had to have WebCTRL updated to 4.1 to parse certain information so that we could then grab it out of the CSV file that was generated. We never intended or saw the need to actually utilize this software since the customer had no plans to further develop what was already done by the original installer. We now have to modify some things and change some of the update rates for our purposes.

Since this installation has never been utilized for anything other than to bring it up to the lates rev, nothing is set up.

I have to change some of the logic (LogicBuilder) and have to do a slight change to the graphical representation of the pages. The software was not set up to do any of this though all the software packages are there. Where, what directory, do I find the files I need to start the editing process.

The software never found a proper ViewBuilder formatted file and LogicBuilder had the same problem. I don't even know where to begin, though SiteBuilder found the database and all that, and the help file was not helpful in showing me where to grab these at.

Any and all info anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Tom

Is the system a converted Legacy or a WebCTRL system.
If it's a WebCTRL system you will find a .eiw under the programs folder. Simply open WebCTRL Eikon and edit the programs.
If it's legacy you'll find .eik programs under m68 folder. Open them in Legacy Eikon. If you only see .fb you'll need to unpack the files to open them in Eikon.

The graphics could have been done in Legacy Draw(.graphics), Frontpage (.jsp), or Viewbuilder(.view).

It is a converted Legacy system I do believe. After our initial review, we determined we could not parse the data AND that version of WebCTRL could not provide a CSV to fit our needs.

I see those folders that you mention. Where do I obtain the legacy versions of Logicbuilder and my god the graphics are in .jsp! Can I open the old Logic files using the new Logicbuilder?

This seems like a mishmash of junk thrown together to provide a interface that our client, unfortunately, never used.

Your input is GREATLY appreciated!!!!

See if you have supervison installed on the computer. If not your out of luck as far programming. Maybe the computer was upgraded and the programs are on the orginal. You will need legacy Eikon to program. Logicbuilder will only work with WebCTRL Eikon.
As long as you have viewbuilder, you have all the tools to create legacy graphics. But it's a harder learning curve with legacy. I would try to find the legacy draw and convert it WebCTRL.

I see this happen all the time, the system gets upgraded to WebCtrl and no one loads the old Legacy InterOp tools. This is usually caused by the owner not knowing where his license disk is and it will not allow the reload. Unless you have your license disk and install CD, only a dealer can recover thie for you. You should also find a file called InterOp Conversion Wizard or ICW.exe. This is the program used to convert Legacy to WebCtrl. If you have .jsp files, that is an old WebCtrl conversion prior to WebCtrl, probably WebCtrl 2.0 or 2.5. If he upgrades you be sure that he uses WebCtrl 4.1 service pack 1, that's the latest install.
