LG vs Mitsubishi

I'm building a garage in the Midwest and currently looking at ductless mini splits to condition the space. My utility provider has good rebates, I'm looking to double up the rebate, buying 2 systems for the garage. I'm looking at two 12k btu heat pumps.

My priority is heat, I'd like to keep the space 60F over colder months. Cooling will be limited as needed in warmer months.

I've looked for a recent post on LG vs Mitsubishi but most are old.

I've narrowed it down to two brands. LG's 25.5 SEER unit is almost 30% less $$ than Mitsubishi's 26.1 SEER hyper heat unit.

Opinions on the topic would be great. I know mitsubishi has been the winner in the past, but I'm looking for current model opinions.

Thank you.

Mitsubishi.
Be aware that if you purchase the unit online, the manufacturer voids the warranty. It's that way with all brands that I know of. The equipment must be purchased by an HVAC contractor.

I have read about the warranty thing for online purchases, most all major brands do have it written on their sites.

I just don't understand how they are everywhere online if the manufacturers don't want them to be purchased by the end user.

Its kind of a gamble, I know, but I did get a bid from a Daikin guy and I can put an online Mitsubishi in twice for that cost. Now can you see my dilemma?

If you don't have the proper equipment and training you can have poor performance or ruined equipment. These models are very sophisticated. They are NOT for do-it-yourself jobs.

But roll the dice. It's your money. Just don't call me to work on it.

I know my limitations, I would not attempt to install myself. I will be mounting inside and outside units and running all electrical. I have a licensed 30yr hvac friend willing to make all line connections and start up.

I didn't want to make any waves, I just wanted some honest opinions on the mitsubishi and lg units.

Am I paying for the name and all those commercials you see on tv if I buy a mitsubishi or are they a superior unit.

So you purchase the equipment and get a licensed contractor to install it. You have bad luck that week and the metering devise on the condenser coil is bad, Who’s paying for the parts, (metering device, refrigerant recovery, torch, N2, Vacuum Pump, Scale) labor, shipping etc. You are!

Yes you can purchase the system for less but you are taking the risk not the contractor.
