r410a vs r404a

My wifes dad has a small window unit that sprung a leak. It takes approx 500g of R410a. I repaired the leak for him but do not have refrigerant. He said the maintenance guy as his work is EPA certified but only has r404a. Can this be charged into his system successfully? Thanks for your responses.

Not without changing the metering device.

sure why not, give it a shot and let us know how it work.

Different refrigerants will run at different pressures, so it won't work the same without doing what brother beenthere said, and that is not easy to do sometimes.

His guy charged it without changing anything and its working fine. Air blows out around 60 degrees. Will it do any long term damage to the compressor?

What was the temp of the return air to it?

Without readings, we can't tell you if its flooding back or not.

Lol, well atleast being a window unit it won't be expensive to replace
