    I love those pdfs of old units you post from time to time. It made me wonder why they oriented the coil like that .....really hard to access the fan motor.

    It says self cleaning alluminum tube and aluminum coil. They figure the rain cleans it I guess?

    That is cool . Ive actually wrenched on a few early 80s magic chefs. Not that I particularly enjoyed it at the time as they are pretty much shot now.

    Back in around 2004 or 2005, I was replacing lots of systems in a townhome community. They had units that looked like that, with Whirlpool on them. One had to pull the 'mechanical' covers from both sides to get to all the wiring and controls, and the service valves (well king valves) were behind the covers. Ran motors were a bear to change, and they were difficult to properly clean.

    Nice! First time I saw one was when I was ripping it out for a change out. I thought to myself "what the hell would I do if I had to change the CFM...? The 18 year tech who was with me said "I dunno..."
