I remember when the VOLT had a fire or two... everyone said the car was dead... Now I see over 50,000 of them have been sold.
IMO: This too shall pass (the Tesla fire issue).
I suspect the repair will be a skid protection plate.

Funny how the media likes to blow things out of proportion... and the sheep believe everything they hear.
What worries me is; these sheep vote...

I drive through King Of Prussia just about every morning. I never see a Tesla on the road, except for one situation:

a pickup truck towing a trailer with a customer's Tesla aboard. I have seen this four times since spring. I can't tell you if it's the same car, but it is the same dark color.

I also can't tell you if the media is over-emphasizing these incidents, but I CAN tell you that fire companies are very concerned about how to approach these electric cars when they do have a fire, due to the electrical shock hazard.

Life With Tesla Model S: Even After Update, Vampire Draw Remains

The Tesla Model S, for all its technical and design artistry, has a dirty little secret: the car has a substantial appetite for kilowatt-hours even when turned off and parked.

Tesla Motors' $40,000 mass market electric car set to debut in early 2015

Tesla Motors plans to unveil an electric car in early 2015 that could sell in the $40,000 range, a mainstream offering that will be key to the automaker’s future.

The car likely will go on sale in 2016 and will be crucial to the brand’s long-term survival. By moving into a higher-volume segment with a vehicle priced half as much as its other products, this latest model will truly test whether Tesla can crack into the mainstream market.

apparently the New Jersey Legislature is not in the business of governing, they are in the control business.

Between firearms and auto's the citizens of NJ aren't going to be able to take a crap without government permission.

I share your disappointment but the problem is lobbyists and money in politics. Add Texas, Arizona, Virginia and Colorado to the list where you cannot buy a Tesla. With more states likely to follow.

The batteries used in the Tesla are 18650 batteries, The same found in 90% of laptops. Except there are just about 8000 of them. Many of us have them for higher end flashlights also. You can have a fault with a battery or how it is charged and discharged. The batteries are prob safer than the gasoline in your car. Remember every carfire does not make the news.
