A friend of mine got a Tesla S model about 1 month ago, rode in it 10 days ago.
Nice car, nice interior, great car for someone with not much to do though.

Not for me, and not worth the price either.

Tesla Model S receives top marks in NHTSA safety testing

Tesla reports that the all-electric sedan received a 5 stars in every NHTSA category. Only 1 percent of all manufacturer vehicles achieve a five star rating and the NHTSA does not publish a star rating above 5. However safety levels better than 5 stars are captured in the overall Vehicle Safety Score (VSS) provided to manufacturers. The S scored a record 5.4 VSS rating and set a new record for the lowest likelihood of injury to occupants.

Boeing did not design the battery by the way. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors is also CEO and CTO of SpaceX. ULA (United Launch Alliance, a joint venture of Lockheed Martin and Boeing) is loosing business to SpaceX. Dragon space ship is using Tesla built Li-Ion battery system, which is of course NASA approved. NASA do not want to burn $100B garage, called International Space Station.

We have a bunch of them running around Seattle. A very striking automobile. Lift up the hood and put a Chevy 283 in and the car would really be something.
